Health facilities

Located on the corners of Durlacher Street and Hughes Street is the Shark Bay Health Centre. Nurses offer medical services to the community Monday - Friday between 8am - 4:30pm (closed from 12:30pm -1:30pm). Doctors fly in from Carnarvon to Denham twice a week however bookings are essential and must be made by contacting the Health Centre on (08) 9948 1400.

At times Child Health Nurses, Optometrists, Physiotherapists, female Doctors and other specialists will visit this facility. These visits will be advertised amongst the community and bookings are always a must.

A Pharmacist is located in Denham on Knight Terrace (foreshore).

A locally run volunteer St John's Ambulance branch is located in Denham which is called upon in the event of an emergency. This service quite often transports patients to the Health Centre facility or to the Monkey Mia Airport for emergency situations where the Royal Flying Doctors are called upon to transport patients to hospitals.

Denham Town Hall

Located on the corners of Durlacher Street and Hughes Street. Bookings can be made at the Shire of Shark Bay on (08) 9948 1218.

Recreation Facilities

An indoor Sports and Recreation Centre, grass bowling green, football and cricket oval, outdoor tennis, netball, basketball and volleyball courts as well as a skate park are provided at the town oval located on Francis Road in Denham. The local community gym, located at the Sports and Recreation Centre is accessible 24 hours a day, by a card provided with membership at the Shire of Shark Bay.

Airstrip

Regional Express airlines (Rex) is the current aviation service provider to Shark Bay and will be flying in and out of the Denham/Monkey Mia airport 7 days a week.The airstrip is located approximately 10kms from the town site of Denham on the Monkey Mia Road.

Transport from the Airport is required. It is suggested if transport services are required to enquire with the Shark Bay Discovery & Visitor Centre on (08) 9948 1590 for suitable transport contacts.

Fuel

A fuel service station is located in the town of Denham at the Shark Bay Fuel, Fishing & Camping Centre, IGA X-Press Supermarket, 24 hours self service fueling station on Monkey Mia Road (in Denham) and at the RAC Monkey Mia resort.

Rubbish Tip

Located approximately 5kms east of the town site of Denham on the Overlander-Denham Road. Disposal fees apply with opening hours Monday - Friday. Rubbish bins are emptied twice a week on Tuesday and Friday mornings. There is currently recycling of household items which you can take to the Shire Depot and sort into the correct bins. These recycling bins are located at Shire of Shark Bay - Depot 105 Dampier Rd.

Phones

Telstra, Boost and Optus are the main mobile phone providers accessible in the Shark Bay area and provide limited service. Other common providers ARE NOT available at this stage. Public phones are available on the main Denham foreshore of Knight Terrace.

Public Toilets

Public toilets are located along the Denham foreshore located on Knight Terrace and at the town hall on the corner of Durlacher and Hughes Streets.

WATER

Denham is serviced by both desalinated water and bore water (not for drinking purposes). Desalinated water is expensive and is used scarcely throughout the community. A coin operated water filling station is available at the Information Bay entering town on Denham Road for travelers to use and costs approximately $1 for 10 litres of desalinated water.

WAste dumpage

A toilet waste dumpage station is located at the Information Bay on Denham Road.
